Florida Pediatric EMS Symposium

August 6, 2026

Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa

Held in Conjunction with Symposium by the Sea 2026

This exclusive one-day program offers EMS professionals the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in caring for pediatric patients through interactive skills stations and informative lectures.

About the 2026 Florida Pediatric EMS Symposium:

Formerly known as the ABC’s of Pediatric EMS, the activity has been renamed the Florida Pediatric EMS Symposium. Children who require emergency care have unique needs, especially when emergencies are serious or life-threatening. Access to optimal emergency care for children is affected by the knowledge and skill level of the responding EMS personnel. This course is designed to educate EMS professionals on how to assess a pediatric patient in the field. Our one-day, robust program includes both didactic lectures and hands-on skills stations. Didactic lectures include topics such as neonatal emergencies, respiratory emergencies, transport and rig-ready tips and tools as it relates to the pediatric patient. Skills stations will compliment didactic lectures. Emphasis also will be on the “seizing child” and new topics in pediatric readiness.

Objectives:

  • Apply the latest evidence-based guidelines in pediatric resuscitation.
  • Perform key pediatric emergency skills and procedures in simulated or clinical scenarios.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and communication during pediatric emergency care.
  • Implement techniques that promote comfort, safety, and family-centered care for pediatric patients.
  • Describe and evaluate emerging topics and best practices in pediatric readiness.

Target Audience:

EMTs and paramedics providing pediatric emergency medical care.

Limited to 36 participants to maximize participation in the skills stations. Ten (10) of the 36 are reserved for registration scholarships to rural agencies, offered by Florida EMS for Children (FEMSC).
